                             EASTER VIGIL

MORNING PRAYER (Saturday 11 April 2020)

EASTER SATURDAY – The Easter Vigil

We spend this day reflecting upon the reality of Jesus death.

He has not yet risen. We are saddened, frightened and alone.

However, Jesus had said to his disciples before his death that he would not leave them alone, that he would be with them and he would rise again from the death.

    REFLECTION:

When was the last time we really prayed to Jesus? Do we allow him into our lives?

Lord, help us to be guided by your love and to always know that you are close at hand whenever we need you.

    Amen.

    Good Friday – The Crucifixion

MORNING PRAYER (Friday 10 April 2020)

At the crucifixion they stripped him and put a notice over his head saying ‘The King of the Jew’. Jesus endured the mocking of the crowds and jeering from the soldiers as he slowly died an agonising death.

    REFLECTION:

    “I was powerless”…… “I couldn’t do a thing”…… “It’s nothing to do with me”……

    Do these statements sound familiar?

How many times do we say these comments when we hear about refugees or an injustice occurring within our society?

Lord, we pray that we might notice the injustices happening around us and act upon resolving these issues rather than making excuses and ignoring them.

    Amen.

                         LIVING THE 8 BEATITUDES

    Holy Wednesday

MORNING PRAYER (Wednesday 08 April 2020)

Dear Lord, on the night Jesus shared his last meal with his friends before he was betrayed by one of his disciples and taken to Pontius Pilate.

God, you sent your only son to save us and for us he suffered.

Today we pray for all those people who suffer and sacrifice.

May Jesus walk with them and help them to stay strong in their time of need.

    Amen.

                        THE LAST SUPPER

    Holy Thursday

This week is the end of Lent and we culminate Lent with three days called the Easter Triduum. In our last week before Easter let us reflect upon the importance of these three days.

MORNING PRAYER (Thursday 09 April 2020)

HOLY THURSDAY – The Last Supper

At the Last Supper Jesus shared a meal with his disciples.

This was his last meal on earth and he revealed how he could be remembered through the sharing of the bread and the wine.

    Reflection:

People like to eat together. Do you regularly sit down to a meal with your family?

Lord, this Easter, help us to enjoy and share meals with our families.

    Amen.
