be to us a shield without and a sure strength within.

Give strength and wisdom to all carers, social workers, voluntary services and all groups and individuals who do care and who try to help. Let your love and compassion show in their lives, and show us how we too can play our part in love and service.

                                      Oh Mary Mother of God  

MORNING PRAYER (Friday 1 May 2020)

The month of May, for the last few centuries, has been given to remembering and honouring Mary, the Mother of God. Falling within our 50 day celebration of Easter it recalls the place of Mary in the redemptive work of her Son. In the Council of Ephesus (432) Mary was declared the Mother of God and has been honourned as such by all the Christian Churches. Pope John Paul IV, in his Encyclical about May devotions reminds us that Mary has no other mission than to bring us to her Son, Jesus Christ. So as we pray let us seek to understand as Mary did, what it means to be a follower of Christ.
