MORNING PRAYER (Thursday 12 March 2020)

Dear Lord,

I know you receive what is in my heart.

Let me be inspired by your words

and by the actions of your son, Jesus.

Guide me to make sacrifices this Lent

in the spirit of self-denial

and with greater attention to you

and to those around me.

Help me to believe that you will grant me this

because of the sacrifice Jesus made for me.

Amen.

O God, we praise you for your call to renew our lives during this season of Lent. Make us ready and eager to accept your invitation to grow. We confess our weakness and ask for new strength to serve you more faithfully. Let our efforts be pleasing to you. This we ask through Jesus, who is our way, our truth, and our life.

As we continue our journey through the Lenten season, we pray for those who are less fortunate than ourselves, especially those who live in poverty. We ask that you guide us as we strive to put others before ourselves.

Show me the way to return.
