    “Life, love keeps multiplying”

    Dear Deacon Nguyen,

God’s mathematics is not the math you learned in school!

It’s Jesus’ “new math” taught during His ministry.

We’re used to “normal” mathematics. If I give away 10, I have 10 less. If I spend one hour helping someone, that’s one hour less to do what I want to do.

God approaches life with totally different logic. In His Book, 1 + 1 can equal 3 and 2 + 2 can equal 22! When was the last time you gave away everything and had more than when you started? When we love, it keeps on multiplying. When we give of our lives, there is more life, not less.
“They all ate and were satisfied.”
    ~ Luke 9:17
Observe how those five loaves and two fish from today’s miracle account fed 5,000. Jesus gave instructions, His disciples followed them. He prayed over the food then handed it back to be distributed. A poor man’s ration became a feast for many…don’t forget there were also unnumbered women and children who partook of that feast!

Dinh, the secrets of faith are hidden in God’s math. By heeding His will for our lives, praying about it, and then taking the bold step of faith, we become His disciples. When was the last time there was more left over after you gave than when you started? What can we do to let go of old rules of thinking and learn God’s new math?
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M. Sincerely yours in Christ,
    Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.
    Prayer for Corpus Christi Sunday
We see, O Lord, the hungry crowds
and hear the cries of the poor
asking You either feed them or
send them away lest they haunt
    our dreams and deprive us
    of our peace of mind.

    Instead, You disturb us further
    with Your command that we
    feed them ourselves from our
    poverty, want, and nothingness.

Shamed by the offering of a child
we give our all knowing it will never
be enough but in Your grace and by Your power.

See! All are fed and full and find
    an overabundance when we trust
not in our lack but in Your love.

Thus may we ever come before You
with open hands and hearts ready
    to receive and give everything.
    In Jesus’ name.

    Amen.
    ~ Father Joseph R. Veneroso, M.M.
