    Dear Deacon Nguyen,

What helps us to recognize, perceive and touch God’s greatness?

It is He who gives us life and for Whom we are to give that life to others. I can think of no better day than Father’s Day to contemplate God’s greatness and the depth of His love.
“O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth!”
    ~ Psalm 8:2
In today’s verse, King David recognizes the covenant name of God—Lord—and the position of God to His people—our Lord! Yes, He is Israel’s covenant God, but He is also the God of more than just Israel. God’s greatness is evident in the power and glory of His creation across the earth and above the heavens. Scientists simply can’t put a number on how big the universe is—it only appears 28 billion light years in diameter!

Many of us gauge the greatness of our Heavenly Father by our experiences with our earthly one. Think about the gifts your father gave you; mine showed me the fruit of the spirit called “patience”. Oh, that I may eventually learn that kind of patience!

Dinh, God’s power and glory can be seen in even the smallest child. When a father holds his baby, there is tenderness, care, and an awe-inspired look in his eyes. That is how God the Father looks at you. What do we want to give of ourselves to please our Father? What does God’s greatness touch in us?
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M. Sincerely yours in Christ,
    Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.
Prayer for The Most Holy Trinity Sunday
O Lord God, how great is Your glory,
    Your power, and Your goodness
    throughout the universe.

    Stars, galaxies, and nebula
    reflect Your majesty
    making us feel small, weak,
    and insignificant. And yet
You have made us in Your own image
and set us over all creation
    to praise Your Holy Name.

Not content to have us call You
    Creator and Redeemer
    You revealed Yourself as
giver of life, love, guidance, and protection
so that we might call You “Abba, Father”
together with Your Son and our Lord
    and brother, Jesus Christ.

    Amen.
    ~ Father Joseph R. Veneroso, M.M.
