“Have you experienced the power of the Spirit?”

Dear Deacon Nguyen,

You have incredible power within you.

Every believer in Christ can claim the power of the Holy Spirit for whatever God has called him or her to do! If you say “I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life…” (Nicene Creed), you’re acknowledging God’s presence within you.
“Send forth your spirit, they are created and you renew the face of the earth”
~ Psalm 104:30
After He was resurrected and appeared to His disciples, Jesus commanded them to remain in Jerusalem until they received the power of the Holy Spirit. So on the day of Pentecost, He came like a strong wind where Jesus’ followers had gathered. It was perfect timing. The disciples were frightened, having lost our Lord twice—first to death, then to the Ascension—but by the Spirit, He returned to equip them with divine authority and energy to do His work.

Dinh, God’s spirit gives power to renew, create and build up, not to beat up, dominate or oppress. Jesus, the “owner” of our souls and giver of life, gives us fullness of life through the Spirit; the only way to strengthen that life is to give it to others. If we allow the indwelling Spirit of God to speak to us, we will have the real joy that only comes from knowing Him.
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M. Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.
Prayer for Pentecost Sunday
Sequence Veni, Sancte Spiritus

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
and from Your celestial home
shed a ray of light divine!
come, Father of the poor!
come, source of all our store!
come, within our bosoms shine.

You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul's most welcome guest;
sweet refreshment here below;
in our labor, rest most sweet;
grateful coolness in the heat;
solace in the midst of woe.

O most blessed light divine,
shine within these hearts of Yours,
and our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught,
nothing good in deed or thought,
nothing free from taint of ill.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
on our dryness pour Your dew;
wash the stains of guilt away:
bend the stubborn heart and will;
melt the frozen, warm the chill;
guide the steps that go astray.

On the faithful, who adore
and confess You, evermore
in Your sevenfold gift descend;
give them virtue's sure reward;
give them Your salvation, Lord;
give them joys that never end.

Amen. Alleluia.
