                                                                        DO NOT BE AFRAID

MORNING PRAYER (Tuesday 6th April 2021)

The women were frightened and yet very happy,

as they hurried from the tomb and ran to tell the disciples.

Suddenly Jesus met them and greeted them.

They went near him, held on to his feet and worshipped him.

Then Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid!

Tell my followers to go before me to Galilee.

    They will see me there.”

Lord Jesus, we pray that during this period of Easter we may

have the courage to face our fears and the grace to hear

your voice telling us, “Do not be afraid!”

                                                              STABAT MATER DOLOROSA

MORNING PRAYER (Friday 2nd April 2021)

This week is the end of Lent and we culminate Lent with three days called the Easter Triduum. In our last week before Easter let us reflect upon the importance of these three days.

    GOOD FRIDAY – THE CRUCIFIXION

At the crucifixion they stripped him and put  a notice over his head saying ‘The King of the Jews’. Jesus endured the mocking of the crowds and jeering from the soldiers as he slowly died an agonising death.

    REFLECTION:

    “I was powerless” …… “I couldn’t do a thing” ….. “It’s nothing to do with me” …..

    Do these statements sound familiar?

How many times do we say these comments when we hear about refugees or an injustice occurring within our society?

Lord, we pray that we might notice the injustices happening around us and act upon resolving these issues rather than making excuses and ignoring them.

    Amen.

                                                               A MEDITATION ON MARY

MORNING PRAYER (Monday 5th April 2021)

    A MEDITATION ON MARY

She expected the grave closed and sealed.

She found it was open, the stone had been rolled.

She expected a body undisturbed on a ledge.

    She found discarded clothes instead.

She expected to find Jesus cold and dead.

    She found him alive instead.

God surprised Mary, the first Easter morn:

turned the world and her life upside down,

change fear to joy, tears to laughter,

promising life for all now and hereafter.

She found Jesus alive and arisen

So she shared the Good News with the living.

What were you expecting this Easter?

An Easter egg that melts in your hand!

    What have you found?

MORNING PRAYER (Thursday 01 April 2021)

This week is the end of Lent and we culminate Lent with three days called the Easter Triduum. In our last week before Easter let us reflect upon the importance of these three days.

HOLY THURSDAY – THE LAST SUPPER

At the Last Supper Jesus shared a meal with his disciples.

This was his last meal on earth and he revealed how he could be remember through the sharing of the bread and the wine.

    REFLECTION:

People like to eat together. Do you regularly sit down to a meal with your family?

Lord, this Easter, help us to enjoy and share meals with our families.

    Amen.
