MORNING PRAYER (Monday 3^rd May 2021)

                                                                   MARIAN MONTH

The month of May, for the last few centuries, has been given to remembering and honouring Mary, the Mother of God. Falling within our 50 day celebration of Easter it recalls the place of Mary in the redemptive work of her Son. In the Council of Ephesus (432) Mary was declared the Mother of God and has been honoured as such by all the Christian Churches. Pope John Paul VI, in his Encyclical about May devotions reminds us that Mary has no other mission than to bring us to her Son, Jesus Christ. So as we pray let us seek to understand as Mary did, what it means to be a follower of Christ.

                                               CREATE A NEW HEART WITHIN US

MORNING PRAYER (Thursday 29^th April 2021)

God of all mercy,

We pray for your people, those scarred by hunger, homelessness, exploitation and greed; for all who have too little, while others have too much.

Create a new heart within us, that we may respond less selfishly to the sufferings of others and learn to share with justice the good gifts of the earth.

Amen.

PORVERTY

Dear God,

I pray that people that is in poverty is not sad or

lonely everyday out in the streets. Please give

them love and happiness everyday and show

them that life isn’t miserable.

                                                           AUTUMN IN AUSTRALIA

MORNING PRAYER (Wednesday 28 April 2021)

AUTUMN

God be with us as the leaves fall

May we shed something of ourselves

Our prejudice, our pettiness

May these be trodden underfoot like cracking leaves

May we awaken to the dignity of people

Even those we usually ignore

In Autumn may our souls be bare

Open to you, reaching for you

With much needed rain you nourish us

With bracing cold you awaken us

We see the people huddled in doorways

Trying to keep warm out of the wind

They are trees reaching up to you too

More fragile than we are – not sheltered

By home and family. As the leaves fall

God be with us; help us to see.
