    Dear Deacon Nguyen,
    We don’t always compliment ourselves, but let me say something important about you: You are an extraordinary missioner!

    Each time you express your faith by caring for someone, you are being Christ-like in ways Our Holy Father Pope Francis says are the most meaningful: You are a healing presence and witness to God’s eternal love.

    Maryknoll is celebrating the Extraordinary Month of Mission in October—the vision of Pope Francis to share the joy of our faith in every and any way we can.

    In ordinary ways, our missioners are doing extraordinary work: caring for the sick, counseling the troubled... educating children and working beside lay people to build parishes and the practice of our faith. Your gift to Maryknoll makes sure that all this and more will continue.

    I’m sure your own parish will have observances and events throughout October meant to deepen your mission spirit among friends and family. As you pray for God’s blessings, I wish you a meaningful and deeply rewarding call to extraordinary mission! And thank you for coming to mission with Maryknoll. You are our partner twice over: in prayer and in service to the people of God, especially the poor.
