Hi Deacon Dinh,
At the midway point of our Advent journey we begin to wonder if there will be a sign of the coming birth of the Christ Child. When we come up short of visible and tangible signs we can tend toward doubt amid all of what we hear from the experts and pundits about the “signs of the times”. Then the Gospel points us in another unexpected direction toward the healing of the blind and the curing of the lame. These are examples of a reversal of the way things usually work and turn out and not the usual signs we seek and pursue. However, being aware of God’s love visible at the margins of our world jolts us out of our slumber. Looking around at people who overcome all kinds of adversity and setbacks help us to discover new opportunities for service to make God’s love visible in our world.
We invite you to walk the Advent journey to the light of Christ within and all about us! To help, we have Advent Reflection Guides based on the Sunday Gospels that can be used in a group or on your own. We also have Guides especially for families and children. Explore our website to see all our Advent Resources.
We are with you in our prayers this Advent,
Fr. Steve and the Maryknoll Mission Formation Projects Team
PrayerLord, help us to read and heed the signs of the coming presence of the Christ Child Jesus as we faithfully discern the pathways you have set for us to follow and to make his love more visible for all people.
