    “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” These words from the prophet Samuel about hearing the call of the Lord give us a sense of what it means to listen to the voice of God. 

     

    Samuel’s openness, anticipation, and receptivity to the Lord’s word give us an idea of what it looks like to be ready to hear what the Lord has to say.

     

    What we listen to and how we hear are an important and often overlooked part of our spiritual journey and development. The Lord tells us to “beware of how you hear” (Mark 4:24, Luke 8:18). What we hear and how we hear it can either foster our relationship with the Living God or it can become an obstacle. 

     

    Cultivating an ear for the things of God through spiritual direction can help us to take care of what we hear.

    Phải xin thú thật cùng tất cả quý vị thân hữu, là nếu tôi không nhận được sự khuyến khích tích cực trực tiếp của các quý vị thân hữu xa gần, các quý vị độc giả báo chí và nhất là các quý vị đồng nghiệp với tôi phục vụ trong Ngành Tư Pháp Hoa Kỳ, bao gồm các vị Chánh Án, Luật Sư và nhân viên tại Tòa Án Liên Bang Hoa Kỳ và Tòa Án Tiểu Bang Oklahoma, thì cho tới giờ phút này tôi không thể nào thực hiện xuất bản được 4000 cuốn sách Pháp Luật Hoa Kỳ Thực Dụng như tôi mong ước là: Một ngàn cuốn sách đầu tiên gồm 620 trang, một ngàn cuốn thứ hai và một ngàn cuốn thứ ba, hai cuốn này cộng lại gồm 868 trang và một ngàn cuốn thứ tư được dịch sang Anh Ngữ gồm 418 trang. Tất cả 4000 cuốn sách này được in ra tại Hoa Kỳ, chỉ để tặng không bán. Tôi xin trân trọng hết lòng ghi ơn sự quý mến và khuyến khích của tất cả quý vị trong lời cầu nguyện hàng ngày của tôi, là một Phó Tế Vĩnh Viễn trong Giáo Hội Công Giáo Hoa Kỳ.
