                         ASH WEDNESDAY

     

    ASH WEDNESDAY (Wednesday 26 February 2020)

    Today we begin the forty days of Lent and commit ourselves to fasting, prayers and good works.

    Let us pray that with all Christians we may be faithful to the call of God (pause).

    Mercy God, guide us at this time as we wear these ashes today in memory of you.

    May these ashes strengthen us to live with the risen Christ.

    We ask this through Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

    * Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence. It is a day of abstinence from eating meat for everyone 15 years and older. It is a day of fast for everyone between the ages of 19 and 59.
