“All You Need is Love” View this email in your browser Dear Deacon Nguyen,
Have you ever watched someone put brick upon brick to build a house?
It’s a fascinating process...and don’t forget the mortar!
Just as there are many layers to a building—with the mortar functioning as the “glue”—there are layers to loving as God wants us to love. But we must make all things new within ourselves first. It is essential to accept God’s love for us before we can even begin to give that love to others. However, as more of the “mortar” of our relationship with Christ is smoothed down between the internal bricks, we must express that love outwardly. How does that happen?“The one on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’” ~ Revelations 21:5 As our hearts grow in love, the desire for sharing that love deepens. We are compelled to establish a new status quo by giving away the very love that Christ built inside of us! Our love becomes like that proverbial tiny mustard seed, “...when full-grown...is the largest of plants." (Matthew 13:32)
Dinh, we have the great privilege of making all things new for others until that new heaven and new earth arrive. “This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35). Loving someone is giving life. If we truly do that, everyone will know who we are and Whom we represent.Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.Prayer for 5th Sunday of Easter Send forth Your Spirit, O Lord,
and renew the face of the Earth.
From the rubble of our plans
and abandoned dreams
create a new world
of justice, love, and truth.
The stone rejected by builders
has become the cornerstone
of Your kingdom on earth.
Restore Your Church
living stone by living stone
held together by the mortar
of faith and mutual love
and seasoned by the blood
of martyrs and of the Lamb.
Amen.~ Father Joseph R. Veneroso, M.M. The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers serve the poor in 22 countries, and celebrate our faith through Mass, the Sacraments, and pastoral work.
