We believed in the Trinity, a God that is a community. So it should be no surprise that Jesus reminds us in the readings this week that we are connected not only to God, but also to each other. People at the time of Jesus, as well as in many cultures and places today, view life first through the lens of community. Others, particularly in the U.S. view life through a more individualistic lens. The Gospel reminds us to focus on our interconnectedness - that which unites us as one family in God’s love.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, you gathered a community of men and women around you to share in your mission. Help us better appreciate your example that our faith comes from, and is best lived out, in community. Give us wisdom and courage to overcome our egos and appreciate our dependence and interconnectedness with each other.
I will praise you, Lord, in the assembly.
