    Dear Deacon Nguyen,

Thank you for the generous support you have shown to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers through the years. I’m truly grateful for it. Gifts from donors like you help enable what Pope Francis considers the essential work of Mission: proclaiming Jesus Christ crucified and risen.

Today, that work faces the great challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Maryknoll Missioners remain at work with people living in impoverished communities in Asia, Africa and Latin America who have limited means to fight this scourge. Here at home, retired missioners face the particular risks older people bear in this outbreak, as do the staff who care for them. In fact, 10 of our older priests and Brothers have already passed onto eternal life because of this novel coronavirus.

It seems like wherever we look, we see another threat. Then I remember the words of the Psalmist when he says the Lord “sent forth his word to heal them.” (Psalms 107: 20) As people of faith we act on that belief, knowing that God blesses our most strenuous endeavors.

You may be aware that today, May 5th, has been designated #GivingTuesdayNow. We are fortunate that two generous longtime supporters of Maryknoll’s mission work have agreed to match up to $20,000 donated by May 7th. You can help us receive this generous donation by making a donation now. Every gift counts and enables us to support the work of the Gospel that continues in 22 countries around the world and to support the older members of our missioner community and those who serve them.

Thank you again for your continued support. I hope you can be generous with us at this very trying time and I pray that God keeps you and your loved ones safe and healthy in this Easter season.
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M. Sincerely,

    Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.
